52/365 - Days 84 - 88

Here's my catch-up post on the Daily Photo Challenge. I was out of town for my mother's surgery and had no way to upload photos or access the internet. Someday, when I am all grown up I will have a laptop with wireless, but for now, I will just have to play catch-up when I am away.

Day 84 -
This is Gilbert, one of my mother's cats.

Day 85 -
This is the alarm clock in my parent's bedroom. This was the time displayed as we were all up and getting ready to leave for the hospital on Monday morning.

Day 86 -
I took A to Downtown Disney as a diversion one day. I got her face painted for the first time. She sat so still...I was very impressed and she was quite excited that she had a bow and hearts on her face.

Day 87 -
I thought this lone water lily was very stunning. I am used to seeing water lilies in shades of purple and lavender, but the orange was striking.

Day 88 -
My goal was a great shot of the cypress knees and the blue heron in the back with the reflection was a bonus.

iHeartFaces (Children) - Week 12

This week's theme is pouty...I have the perfect picture! I normally take photos of the "happy" moments and don't have too many of the pouty face times, but on this particular day, I just had to get a few photos.
Make sure to check out the other entries over at iHeartFaces. There is also a pet category this week. I might have to find something for that one too!

52/365 - Day 83

There were many kite surfers at the beach on Saturday. This one caught my attention because I thought he looked like Batman walking down the beach.

52/365 - Day 82

This is my favorite photo from our beach outing on Saturday!

Monday, March 23, 2009

52/365 - Day 81

The view of Brickell Ave. and Brickell Key from the Rickenbacker Causeway (from the car window).

52/365 - Day 79

A day at the beach...Crandon Park, Key Biscayne.

I will be on autopost until I return from Orlando for my mom's surgery. Enjoy the pictures I have chosen and I can't wait to see the comments when I get back!

Random Picture Challenge

It's Saturday and time for the Random Picture Challenge over at 4 Little Men and Girly Twins. This week, it is the third folder and the first picture with brown in it. Mine comes from a folder inside the 3rd folder and it is the first photo with brown in it.

This was taken before A's first Thanksgiving. Grandmomela gave her her very own Thanksgiving bib and burp cloth.

Fix It Friday Part 2

Here are 3 more...I had a little more time to play with some of the more creative stuff. And, I wanted to see what this blonde little cutie would look like with blue eyes. I think the one with the wood background is my favorite. I used PSE 5.0 for all edits.

Fix It Friday

It's Fix It Friday over at iHeartFaces...I missed last week so I'm excited to do it again.

The "Dimpled Darling" is totally cute and there wasn't much to fix. Here is the original image:

For my first fix, all I did was use the healing tool and cloning tool to fix the minor blemish under the eye and near the nose.

Here are my creative fixes:

Fix 1: Lightened and added an overlay & soft light layer

Fix 2: Sharpened eyes and dodged them (20%)

Fix 3: B&W (played around with the levels and contrast until I got this)

Fix 4: Cropped B&W

52/365 - Day 76

I don't get many opportunities to capture a picture of Grandma. Now that she's living with my parents, I have had a few more chances to catch her in a photo. I think it will mean a lot to A to have some photos of her down the road.

52/365 - Day 74

Not a technically great photo...but funny. This is what happens when Dad has a few glasses of wine! He called A's tricycle his "Harley."

What Do You Do with Lemons?

My friend in Blogger-ville, the very talented Shirley, has awarded me with the "When Life Gives You Lemons" Award. I feel honored and blessed that Shirley chose me to recieve this award. This is what she said about me: "Lindsay, who has a wonderful eye when it comes to taking pictures. She shares something to inspire me every day." Aww...thanks Shirley. And you know what, she does the same for me. Her blogs (---Shirley--- & Behind the Lens) are two that I check and read daily.

The essence of the Lemonade Award:

Post the logo on your blog.

Nominate blogs that show great attitude or gratitude.

Link to the nominees within your blog post.

Notify the recipients of the award by commenting on their blog.

Share the love and link back to the person from whom you received your award.

I'm going to pass this award on to these two blogger friends:

Beth - from The Right Regrets. If you don't know her, I am not even sure how to describe her. I can only tell you that I have had the pleasure of meeting her IRL and she is one of the most positive and funny people I have ever known.

Brynn - from Moments of Majic and Mayhem. Unfortunately I have not met Brynn IRL, but I plan to change that someday. She is extremely kind and generous. Her blog is real and honest...and she is another woman with a very positive outlook on life!

I hope you check out these ladies' great blogs and remember to choose to be thankful for those lemons. (Quote taken from Shirley!)

iHeartFaces (Adult) - Week 10

This is my adult entry for "Green" week. Make sure to check out the other entries at iHeartFaces.
This picture was taken a few months ago...and I really had to search for an adult photo this week. But, I do LOVE the expression on his face! And boy oh boy do I need to spend more time taking "good" pictures of adults...this was clearly a lesson in "I put most of my focus into kid shots."

iHeartFaces (Children) - Week 10

This week's theme is "Green." Here's what I have! Make sure to check out the other entries over at iHeartFaces.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago while hiking a trail. I knew that I wanted to use this one because she was wearing her new green hat. I thought that highlighting the color with the B&W was a fun choice.

52/365 - Day 73

I like this shot of A & Daddy...I especially love the dirt suspended mid-air as they were digging.

52/365 - Day 72

This is how some people make money on the beach. These two guys usually have a grocery cart full of coconuts that they cut down from the trees on the beach early in the morning. They hack into them and pop in a straw and sell them the tourists on the beach. On this day, they ran out and had to cut down more coconuts during broad daylight!

52/365 - Day 71

Another view of the dune fencing on South Beach.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

52/365 - Day 70

One of the Miami Flamingo on South Beach. These are scattered all over Miami. I have seen most of them in Coral Gables and on South Beach.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

52/365 - Day 69

Photo taken in S. Miami from the car windo...the Old Virgin Mega Store. Then I solarized it...I like what it did to the clouds, but it didn't produce as much color variation as the lifeguard stands.

52/365 - Day 67

Here are the infamous lifeguard stands from South Beach! I can't say that the lifeguards are as yummy...LOL!

And because I was having fun, I took each image and "solarized" them. Kind of artsy!

iHeartFaces (Children) - Week 9

This is my entry for Creative Cropping (Week 9) over at iHeartFaces. This week, we can show the before and after. For this picture, I tried some creative cropping when I took the shot. Then, I cropped it a bit more in PSE 5.0.

I also did some editing. This was another shot taken with my "little" camera. Big Boy is being serviced. I played with exposure and saturation. I like the way it came out....it remind me of an old postcard. Make sure to check out all of the other cute kiddos and their crops over at iHeart Faces.

iHeartFaces (Adult) - Week 9

This weeks photo contest being hosted by iHeartFaces is about Creative Cropping. The cropping can be done in the camera when the image is shot, or afterward in an editing program.

For the adult entry, I cropped after the shot. The 1st image is the before shot and the second image is my cropped version.

Make sure to visit iHeartFaces to check out the othere entries this week. There are some uber-talented photographers over there.

52/365 - Day 66

This is a shot of the dune fencing that I took on infamous South Beach...between 5th and 7th if you care. Stay tuned...the lifeguard stands are tomorrow!

Random Picture Challenge

This usually happens on Saturday's...but better late than never! Make sure to click on over to 4 Little Men and see the other entries.

This week is the 1st folder from February 2009...1st picture that isn't your kids.

Well, my first folder was story time at Pottery Barn Kids, so there were lots of pictures of A. So I chose the 1st one that was not her. This is my friend's baby...isn't he cute!
